Aitkin Business Floods Due to Clogged Roof Drains?

Have you inspected your roof lately? The Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS), urges businesses to inspect and clean the roof drainage system at least twice a year, ideally during the spring and fall. All gutters, interior drains, and scuppers should be inspected and cleaned of debris as needed, and any loose objects and accumulated debris on the roof that could end up in the drainage system should be cleared as well.
Our local Aitkin, Carlton, and West St. Louis Counties teams also witness rainwater intrusion from clogged roof-mounted air conditioner drain lines and downspouts that do not funnel water away from the building as intended. The IBHS also suggests up-sizing gutters to allow for the greater flow of water and checking wall air conditioners to ensure the internal drainpipe is adequate and the water is flowing freely, the caulking and weather stripping are adequate around the unit, and the unit is installed with a ¼ inch bubble tilt toward the outside to allow for proper drainage.
