Severe Spring Storm Damages Buildings in Aitkin?
6/21/2022 (Permalink)
Last month, several buildings at the Aitkin County Fairgrounds were damaged by severe winds that swept through on May 12. Our Aitkin, Carlton, and West St. Louis Counties teams responded to many property damage emergencies involving damaged buildings, downed trees, and privacy fencing. Toppled trees blocked roadways and knocked out the power. According to the Brainerd Dispatch, the Aitkin County sheriff's boat and water building was destroyed, and metal roofs were pulled off of many commercial buildings in the area.
Storm damage can happen in Aitkin at any time and often with little advanced warning. Some wind gusts were reported at 70 miles per hour, and people driving down the streets witnessed bags flying past their cars at faster rates than their vehicles were traveling!
