SERVPRO® of Aitkin, Carlton & West St. Louis Counties wants everyone in Mountain Iron to be safe and ready for winter storms. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) provides the NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards (NWR), a nationwide network of radio stations broadcasting continuous weather information directly from the nearest National Weather Service office. NWR broadcasts official weather service warnings, watches, forecasts, and other hazard information 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
NOAA Weather Radio
A NOAA Weather Radio receives real-time weather information direct from the National Weather Service. Frequent updates and live broadcasts notify listeners of potential hail, flooding, tornadoes, blizzard conditions, and other weather warnings during severe weather. NOAA Weather Radios can be purchased at many electronic stores and can be battery operated, giving you an option to obtain information sources when your power is out.
A Winter Storm Warning is issued when hazardous winter weather in the form of heavy snow, heavy freezing rain, or heavy sleet is imminent or occurring. Winter Storm Warnings are usually issued 12 to 24 hours before the event is expected to begin.
A Winter Storm Watch alerts the public to the possibility of a blizzard, heavy snow, heavy freezing rain, or heavy sleet. Winter Storm Watches are usually issued 12 to 48 hours before the beginning of a Winter Storm.
