Moisture Readings

A moisture meter is used to detect the level of moisture after flooding or other types of water damage occur. One of the types we use, is the invasive pin-type by inserting the pins into the wet material such as structural wood, drywall, non-painted surfaces, carpeting and ceiling tile. This type of reading is determined by the measurement of the electrical resistance between the tips of the two pins on the meter. Often these meters will read up to 5/16” depth. The tips are somewhat sharp and is the best way to identify the exact location of moisture build-up. It is also an effective way to determine between shell and core moisture readings of affected materials in your home.
